Young people from schools and church groups on Roatan took part in a nationwide prayer rally July 20.

A crowd estimated in the thousands packed into Jerry Hynds Stadium July 20 to take part in the One Nation One Day rally, conducted simultaneously in all departments of the country. The Honduran Congress passed a resolution July 5 calling for a day of nationwide prayer in light of the “difficult situation the country is living through.” Similar rallies have been held in other countries over the last 10 years. But Kevin Norwood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one of 27 North American missionaries who helped organize the rally on Roatan  (nearly 2,000 took part nationally), said this was the first one conducted simultaneously nationwide and endorsed by a  legislature. Norwood said the group brought shoes, food and medicine for needy children and held activities in island schools throughout the week.
