[private]Who & Where From: We caught up with Keila Rochelle Thompson, a native Jonesvillian, at the Shrimp Festival where she co-organized the top model competition. Keila’s “hobby” is hair and makeup – she is a Florida licensed cosmetologist and this was the second such similar event this year. She lived for five years in US and returned to Roatan late last year. A full time mom to her son Hunter, her day job is as Manager of Pristine Bay Resort & Spa.
What & Why: Her dark blue capri cut jeans ($60) were a purchase from Guess Store at the Aventura Mall. Her gold colored 4″ high platform shoes – were found at Aldo Shoes in the Sawgrass Mall at $50. Her colorful, breezy, full of flowers and frills top really set the tone for the entire ensemble. The slightly psychedelic halter neck sleeveless top was a steal at Arden B store ($19.99) at the Boca Raton Mall. Her watch, one of two she owns: a silver and gold Bulova with diamonds was “a gift to myself,” explains Keila with her $200 purchase at a Macy’s store. Keila sported two accessories: a pair of crystal snake earrings ($20) and a blue flower hair clip ($5) which came from a unique items store at Dolphin Mall. She wore no rings or bracelets “as it was a working day” for Keila, the expert “Florida Mall shopper.”
In Conclusion: Keila looked great and made sure a dozen model competitors looked well as they possibly could. She was comfortably dressed to be able to work in the sun and wind of the Shrimp Festival. “People sometimes purchase clothes because of whats in style, but it just doesn’t always work in this climate,” says Keila. She says that most important things in her fashion sense are “comfort, things that suit my body type and are age appropriate.” The well dressed and super smart girl certainly knows her strengths.
