Island Girl Wins 8 Medals at National Swim Meet

[private] photo-maeform-webRoatanian Maeform Borriello, who turns 13 this month, won six silver and two bronze medals at the Honduran national championships in Tegucigalpa August 17-20 and has qualified to compete in the Central American championships in San Pedro Sula in November. Maeform who lived on Roatan until she was six, goes to school in Italy, spends her summers here and swims for the Delfines Sanpedranos, which took the team title at the August meet. She trained by swimming in the ocean in front of Las Rocas resort in West Bay, owned by her father, Gaetano Borriello. She also competes in Italy, where she is ranked in the top 10 for her age group in the 50m and 100m freestyle. At the Honduran championships, Maeform silvered in the 50m and 100m backstoke, 100m and 200m freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley. She took bronze in the 200m medley and 50m freestyle.
