[private]For the second year running, Roatan became the region’s temporary art capital for the COR3 international short-film festival July 9-13. This year’s festival expanded to five days and featured more than 100 three-minute films, up from 60 at the three-day inaugural festival last May, and films were shown in West Bay and Coxen Hole in addition to West End. Organizers secured a grant from Banco Atlantida to make the event bigger this year. But the festival still lacked the advance publicity needed to make it a regional destination event. Even so, logistical coordinator Marcela Dalama said about 60 people booked trips to Roatan from the mainland specifically for the festival.
Four musical groups, including one from Roatan, plus three DJs and two VJs performed at different venues over the five nights of the COR3 festival. In addition, 17 non-cinema visual artists, including four from Roatan, displayed their works at the festival.
